Uses low pressure steam from an in-house boiler through a strainer to remove any foreign material.
Monitors steam temperature and detects abnormal condensate level to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Float and thermostatic steam trap comes with universal four port design. Eliminates any remaining condensate from the steam line.
SKDESC controller opens electronic isolating valve when line is condensate free to supply steam to the re-evaporator’s heat exchanger.
  • Custom designed to fit your application.
  • Multiple vertical dispersion channels mounted on a single horizontal header.
  • Steam escapes through multiple eyelets and mixes with the airflow to maintain the desired humidity level.
  • Refer to patent pending HD Technology.
  • Integrated patent-pending re-evaporator (provides drain-free operation)
  • Re-boils condensate generated within the dispersion channels through an internal heat exchanger.
  • Custom sizing as per the system steam pressure to eliminate all the condensate produced.
Supplies condensate-free steam to the steam control valve, while discharging condensate to the steam trap.
Electronic steam control valve provides full modulation of the low pressure steam flow to the steam distributor for a better control of the humidity level.
  • Double wall 304 stainless steel with encapsulated Armacell UT/SolaflexTM foam insulation
  • Internal design ensures optimum efficiency (during operation, channels are cool to touch)
  • Refer to patent pending HD Technology
  • 304 stainless steel rated at 450°F (232°C).

    • Set MAC address via controller menu
    • Manual or automatic device instance configuration

Operation

This configuration consists of multiple vertical dispersion channels mounted on a single horizontal header.

  • Low pressure steam from an in-house boiler enters the SKD steam supply line.
  • Any condensate flows through an F&T steam trap and returns to the boiler.
  • Using the temperature sensor signal, the controller determines if the steam is hot enough and that the steam supply is free of condensate.
  • Upon a demand for humidity, the SKDESC controller slowly opens the isolating steam valve feeding steam to the distributor’s heat exchanger on the horizontal header.
  • The steam flows through a steam separator to separate steam and condensate. Any condensate flows through an F&T steam trap and returns to the boiler.
  • Using another temperature sensor signal, the controller determines if the steam in the heat exchanger supply line is hot enough and that it’s free of condensate.
  • The SKDESC controller slowly opens the steam modulating valve feeding steam to the distributor’s horizontal header dispersion channel. Any condensate falls on the heat exchanger and is re-evaporated.
  • The steam escapes the dispersion system through multiple engineered eyelets on the vertical tubes and mixes with the airflow to maintain the desired humidity level.

Application

The SKD steam injection system is the ultimate solution for applications where clean low pressure steam is available, such as:

  • Hospitals / Health Care Institutions
  • Museums
  • Laboratories

Overview

The objective of the Neptronic patent-pending pressurized condensate return (PCR) system is to return condensate generated within the steam dispersion tubes of a direct steam humidifier back to the boiler.

This innovative, patent-pending Neptronic technology is developed to simplify installation, provide maintenance-free and energy efficient operation, and to enable monitoring of the system for direct steam applications.

Features

PCR = Quality
  • Trusted Neptronic peripherals: PCR tank, actuators, sensors and controller are developed and manufactured by Neptronic
  • No flooding of header
  • All components are located outside the duct for easy access
PCR = Maintenance Free
  • Real-time status and monitoring
  • No systematic verification required
  • No de-scaling required
  • No downtime
PCR = No Loss of Energy
  • No gravity drain; condensate is sent back to the boiler
  • All components are low voltage
  • Only 0.013 lb/hr of steam to push 10 lb/hr of condensate

Operation

Humidifier Process

During the humidification process steam fills the header, and then travels up the steam distributors and through steam ejector eyelets. Condensate generated from heat transfer within the vertical tubes accumulates at the bottom of the header.

PCR Process
  • The header's integrated slope forces accumulated condensate to the drain port (1), which then flows into the PCR tank (2)
  • When the tank level setpoint is attained, the ESC controller opens the Steam supply valve (3) to empty the PCR tank (2) into the Condensate return (5) system.
  • The check valve (4) prevents steam pressure from reversing into the header.
  • The ESC controller continues to monitor the tank's condensate level and temperature.
  • When the PCR tank (2) is empty, the ESC controller closes the Steam supply valve (3) and opens the Relief valve(6) to partially relieve pressure in the PCR tank (2) and allow the flow of condensate from the header to the PCR tank (2).
  • With the Relief valve (6) open, the check valve (7) prevents backflow from the Condensate return (5) to the PCR tank (2).

Benefits

  • Wasted energy is reduced by up to 85%. This includes steam supply consumption and wasted condensate generated by heat transfer from hot channel to air stream.
  • HD technology’s energy savings will pay back the difference invested in approximately 15 months. Payback varies depending on several factors, such as application, site, energy costs and other system design variables. Please do not hesitate to contact us and we will help you calculate your payback.
  • Prevents condensate ejection on start up and during any modulating humidity demand.
  • 100% stainless steel construction (reduces maintenance)

Channel and Header

  • Double wall 304 stainless steel with encapsulated Armacell UT/Solaflex™ foam insulation.
    • Channels: 24 gauge steel with insulation of 1/4" on the side and 1/2" on the top
    • Header: 18 gauge steel with insulation of 3/8"
  • Internal design ensures that insulation avoids contact with airflow and with saturated steam.
  • Outer shells are welded in place to fully cover the insulation and protect it from wear and tear.
  • Continuous seam weld to prevent any steam leak.
  • Dispersion channels can be factory or field assembled to the header.
  • Welded bottom plate, gasket and 4 screws for leak-proof mounting of each channel on the header.
  • Channels are equally spaced over the length of the header for a better steam distribution across the width of the duct or air handler.
  • Header’s internal distribution tube spans the length of the header to supply steam equally to all steam dispersion channels.

Steam Ejector Eyelets (Patent Pending)

  • 304 stainless steel rated at 450°F (232°C)
  • Internal slope returns condensate generated within the eyelet to the steam dispersion channel.
  • Steam ejection point located away from the steam dispersion grid’s external sheath.
  • Eyelets are mounted on both sides of the channels to evenly distribute steam perpendicular to the airflow.
  • Rows of eyelets on opposite channels are mounted staggered to prevent face to face steam injection of adjacent channels.

Standards

  • ASTM E84 which is a flame spread and smoke development index rating
  • UL181 test requirement for mold growth
  • ASTM G21 test requirements for fungi resistance
  • ASTM G22 test requirements for bacterial resistance
